Ikorodu division Extra Jos competition: DESTINY BOYS BEAT TESLIM BALOGUN FC TO GAIN SLOT

Destiny boys football club yesterday gained only slot
to represent Ikorodu division in the ongoing second
edition of Lagos state Extra Jos competition after they
defeated Teslim thunder Balogun fc 3-2 in a penalty
shootout at Strong Tower, Ikorodu.
The final match, which ended in 1-1 draw before the
penalty separated the two sides was lift to
expectation as fans thronged out to watch the match.
The secretary of Ikorodu Divisional Football
Association (IKDFA), Mr Lukman Sonibare gave
assurance that the association will do everything
within its reach to support Destiny boys when they
face other teams at the state level.
Destiny boys were among the two teams that
represented Ikorodu division at the quarter stage of
just concluded Skye bank/Lagos Oba cup before they
were knocked out by Current fc.
However, the competition which suppose to kick off at
Police College, Ikeja have now been changed to Ereko
high school, Agege and Jalingo sport complex,
Oshodi.

Mtn/Lagos street soccer: LOC meet over Koilo and Oke sunna issue

The Local Organizing committee of Mtn/Lagos street soccer will meet
today in order to critically look at the statement that the defending
champion, Koilo street 1 filed against Oke sunna for fielding
ineligible player in the round of 16 that was played between the two
clubs at Elegbata.
According to the report gathered, Oke sunna street fielded Waheed
Fasasi who is also playing for fc Ebiede.
According to the chairman, Arbitration Panel, Astin Akosa, the LOC
felt it would be appropriate to sanction any team that may want to
bring the tournament to disrepute.
Also for fielding ineligible player in the tournament, three teams,
Alaguntan, Benson and Arizona street have been kicked out of the
competition.

2013 LAGOS OBA CUP: we won't disappoint you- AACC fc assure Ikorodu fans

Following AACC fc's qualification to represent Ikorodu division for
the round of 16 of this year's edition of the Lagos Oba cup, the coach
of the team, Dino Gilmore has promised not to disappoint their fans
from Ikorodu in their remaining matches that they will be playing at
Onikan stadium.
The coach gave the assurance in a chat with
grassrootfootballnews.blogspot.com that the team will do everything
possible to put smile on the face of their fans when they face another
team at the state level.
"We are not going to disappoint our fans, we are going to give them
good football and we will make everybody that support us to be proud
of our team", Gilmore said.
Speaking in the same vein, the captain of the team, Segun Abiodun said
representing Ikorodu division at the state level is a big challenges
for the team but they will not relent in their effort to give their
fans nothing but the best from the team.
Segun said" It's not by our doing but the fans should expect the best from us".
The debutant, AACC fc alongside Destiny boys are the two teams that
will represent Ikorodu division after both teams defeated their rival,
Trinity fc and Bolowotan fc in the semi final stages.

2013 LAGOS OBA CUP: AACC fc, Destiny fc represent Ikorodu division as Bolowotan edge out

AACC fc and Destiny fc are the two final teams that will represent
Ikorodu division in the round of 16 of Lagos Oba cup as Bolowotan fc
were on Friday knocked out in the semi final stage at Police barrack,
Ikorodu.
The debutant, AACC fc defeated Trinity fc 2-0 in the first semi final
stage on Thursday while the second semi final witnessed high turnout
on Friday as Bolowotan fc settled for less against their arch rival,
Destiny Boys, the game ended 5-3 in a penalty shootout.
It was a fight to finish battle between Oga Boys, Bolowotan and
Destiny Boys as both teams were unable to get a goal in regulation
time.
The tournament which has Skye Bank PLC has the title sponsor kicked
off barely a month ago from the five Divisional Football Associations
across the state culminating into 16-team qualifying for the State
level.
According to the Chairman of the Technical committee of the State FA,
Dotun Coker disclosed recently that Lagos Divisional Football Association,
LDFA with the largest registration of 66 clubs will
present 8 teams for the State's last 16, while Ikeja
Divisional Football Association with a total number of
26 clubs will have 3 clubs qualifying for the State
stage. The other three divisions remaining, namely
Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry divisional FA with 18 clubs,
16 clubs and 7 clubs respectively, will produce the
remaining 5 clubs that will make up the last 16
number, Ikorodu (AACC fc and Destiny Boys) and Epe divisional FA's will have 2
clubs each and Badagry divisional FA would present
1 club.
Speaking with the Team Manager of AACC fc, Dino Gilmore expressed his
happiness towards his team performance coming to the competition for
the very first time and progress to represent Ikorodu disclosed that
he is proud of his team performance because the players were much
ready to face the challenges and they finally overcame from their
division .
" We are taking it one game at a time and I'm very proud of them,
they're very dedicated and they really work hard and our results is
based on their efforts; they put all their best in all matches" coach
Gilmore said.
All matches will now be played at Onikan stadium

Lagos Oba's cup (Ikorodu division) reach semi final stages

To fish out the two giants that will represent Ikorodu division in the
forthcoming Lagos Oba's cup, the preliminary stage has reached the
semi finals.
The tournament, which is being played at Police Barrack, Igbogbo saw
AACC fc, Trinity fc, Bolowotan fc and Destiny booked their place in
the semi final stage
In the quarter final stages, Trinity fc defeated Rock fc 2-1 in the
first game while the second game favoured AACC fc as they defeated
9man Grace stars fc 2-0.
Segun opened the scoring for his side from the spot kick while Fidelis
doubled the lead before the end of the half time.
On Tuesday, Destiny boys scaled through to be among the last four with
a 1-0 victory against Blue stone while Oga boys, Bolowotan fc came
from behind to beat Faith fc 2-1.
The semi final stage is slated for Thursday and Friday respectively
with Trinity fc trading tackles against AACC fc while Bolowotan will
slug it out against their arch rival, Destiny Boys.

The 2nd edition of the Fate street soccer competition
(KUTA CUP 2013 ) kicks off today, September 2nd in Ilorin at the Fate field.
The competition is a 5 aside tournament which brings
in grass root teams around Ilorin and the last edition of
the competition was sponsored by Kata security
guards.
The annual competition will feature the young talented footballers

FIFA U17 World cup: Golden Eaglet face Mexico, Iraq, Sweden in group F.

The Golden Eaglet of Nigeria have been drawn in group F alongside
Mexico, Irag and Sweden ahead of the forthcoming FIFA U17 world cup
that will be hosted in United Arab Emirate.
The competition which will kick off between October 17 to November 8
in the six host cities will feature the young talented players across
the globe. Golden Eaglet will face the CONCACAF champions Mexico, who
are on the verge of defending the title they won two years ago on
their home soil two day after the commencement of the tournament at Al
Ain stadium.
However, the Golden Eaglet handler, Manu Garba α̲̅πϑ his assistance
have said before the draw that the team are fully ready to face any
opponent when the competition begins.
Meanwhile, the host country, UAE will face one of the most successful
nation in the history of the competition, Brazil
alongside Honduras and Slovakia.
In group B, the African champion, Ivory Coast will loch horn against Uruguay,
New Zealand and Italy
.
Group C features Croatia, Morocco,
Panama α̲̅πϑ Uzbekistan.
Group D also feature another African, Tunisia, Venezuela,
Russia and Japan
.
In group E, Canada will face Austria, Iran and Argentina

United Arab Emirates which will determine Nigeria's
opponents cadet championship, head coach of the
Nigerian side, Manu Garba
has said that his side is not afraid of any team they eventually
get drawn against. The Golden Eaglet handler, who is currently at UAE
is urging Nigerians to pray for
the team to succeed irrespective of any teams they face in the tournament.
However, Assistant Golden Eaglets
coach, Emmanuel Amuneke also said that the team fear no foe and
will be ready to face any opponent when hostilities
begin.
The event will take place at 19:00 local time (17:00 CET) at the Hotel
Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in the UAE capital, with the participants divided
into six groups of four.
The qualified teams are Côte d'Ivoire, Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia,
Iran, Iraq, Japan, United Arab Emirates(host),
Uzbekistan, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Canada,
Honduras, Mexico, Panama, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and
Venezuela.
